Be Gentle with My Corpse
Makenna judy
My lungs are filled with thorns
There’s mildew in my bones
I’m rotting from the inside dear
This body’s not my own
Vines hold my bones together
They’re tangled through my ribs
I’m struggling to breathe my dear
I don’t think I can live
My heart is filled with soil
The pores are chocked with clay
You’ll suffocate within my dear
I cannot ask you to stay
Instead of veins there’s roots
That live beneath my skin
They dig into my heart my dear
I fear that they might win
I thought the weeds might flower
The ones within my hair
But there’s no blooms tonight my dear
The weeds are dry and bare
My blood it bleeds of pollen
And long ago dead leaves
A shame you are allergic dear
Of what my body weaves
My voice is fallen leaves
Ground powder under boots
You claim to love my laugh my dear
But I’d rather I keep mute
You place flowers in my ears
I hear their mournful song
Call my name once more my dear
I fear I don’t have long
